Meta, the company that owns Facebook and other social media platforms, is set to lay off around 4,000 employees in a significant downsizing effort that will affect not only Facebook but also other Meta-owned platforms such as Instagram, Reality Labs, and WhatsApp. The decision follows Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg's announcement in March that the company would reduce its workforce by an additional 10,000 jobs, on top of the 11,000 job cuts already implemented in November 2022. Meta also plans to implement another round of cuts in May that will affect the business side of the company.
